Time Tracking Settings
Configure overtime, double time, and geofencing rules.
Navigate to Settings → Time Tracking to configure how hours are calculated and where employees may clock in.
Overtime & double time
Enable Double Time Calculation to reveal the full rule set. These support jurisdictions like California and union contracts:
Daily limits
- Daily Overtime Limit — hours before overtime (1.5×) starts. Default: 8.
- Daily Double Time Limit — hours before double time (2×) starts. Default: 12.
Example: a 14-hour day = 8h regular + 4h overtime (hours 8–12) + 2h double time (12+).
Weekly limits
- Weekly Overtime Limit — default 40 hours.
- Weekly Double Time Limit — default 60 hours.
Daily limits are calculated first; weekly limits then apply to the remaining regular hours.
7th consecutive day rule
When enabled, work on the 7th consecutive day of a work week is paid as overtime for the first 8 hours and double time beyond that. The employee must have clocked hours on each of the preceding 6 days.
Geofencing
Enable Geofencing (GPS Check) to require employees to be physically on site to clock in or out.
- Define one or more zones, each with a name (e.g., "Main Office"), a latitude/longitude center point, and a radius in meters.
- An employee must be inside at least one active zone to clock in; otherwise the attempt is blocked.
- Location is recorded with each time entry for auditing.
- Employees must grant location access on their device.
Tip: allow for GPS drift — a radius of 100–150 m prevents false rejections from poor signal.
Best practices
- Confirm your overtime/double-time settings against local labor law.
- Review timesheets before approving them for payroll — see Timesheets.
